2015 Annual Meeting Draws Third Largest Attendance
Turnout for the 2015 AERA Annual Meeting, with 15,750 in attendance, was the third highest in the association’s history. 
Commemorating AERA’s Centennial: A Call for Knowledge and Findings
This call invites scholars to contribute to building a compendium of robust knowledge and findings related to education and learning.

AERA Selects Teresa McCarty to Deliver 2015 Brown Lecture in Education Research
Teresa L. McCarty, a professor of education and anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and professor emerita at Arizona State University, has been selected to present the 2015 AERA Brown Lecture in Education Research.
 
AERA Awards 11 Education Research Service Projects Grants
Eleven projects were selected in February to receive awards through AERA’s Education Research Service Projects (ERSP) initiative.

AERA has published two new books with groundbreaking scholarship in critical emerging areas of education research. Socializing Intelligence Through Academic Talk and Dialogue and Interest in Mathematics and Science Learning emerged from AERA Education Research Conferences.

LGBTQ Issues in Education: Advancing a Research Agenda examines the current state of the knowledge on LGBTQ issues in education and addresses future research directions.

Census Bureau to Retain Question on Field of Undergraduate Degree in ACS
On April 28, the Federal Register published a notice from the Census Bureau stating that the agency will retain Person Question No. 12 – Undergraduate Field of Degree in the American Community Survey.
 
House Science Committee  Approves  America COMPETES Act, Undercutting Social and Behavioral Sciences
The House Science Committee passed the America COMPETES Act on April 22, despite opposition by the broad science community, including AERA. 
Congress Makes Headway on FY 2016 Budget and Appropriations
Congress is in the midst of developing a budget and determining funding levels for the 2016 fiscal year. The House and Senate Budget Committee chairs have advanced a compromise agreement.
