AERA to Commemorate Centennial at 2016 Annual Meeting, April 8-12
     Online Registration and Housing Now Open

AERA is pleased to announce that registration and housing are now open for the 2016 AERA Annual Meeting. The meeting will take place in Washington, D.C., April 8-12.

AERA Inaugurates Congressional Fellowship Program
     Applications Due February 22, 2016

With the unanimous support of Council, AERA is launching a Congressional Fellowship Program commencing in 2016—the Centennial year of the association.  
AERA Holds Press Club Briefing on Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin
On December 7, two days before the Supreme Court heard oral arguments, AERA held a briefing at the National Press Club on Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin.
 

OECD-AERA Meeting Examines Longitudinal Data Systems
AERA and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) convened more than 40 experts from the United States and 13 other OECD countries December 3–4 in Washington, D.C.

AERA Past President Robert L. Linn Dies
AERA Past President (2003) Robert L. Linn died on December 8 at age 77 of natural causes.

FY 2016 Omnibus Bill Boosts Funding for Education Research
U.S. House of Representatives and Senate leaders have reached a deal on an omnibus appropriations bill that will fund the government through September 30, the end of the 2016 fiscal year.


Senate Passes Strengthening Education Through Research Act
Before going on recess, the Senate passed S. 227, the Strengthening Education Through Research Act (SETRA), by unanimous consent on December 17. The legislation would reauthorize the Institute of Education Sciences (IES).

Reauthorization of Elementary and Secondary Education Act Crosses Finish Line
After several months in a holding pattern, congressional authors announced in mid-November an agreement on a “framework to move forward” on the long-awaited reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
