Dear TICL members,

We invite you to submit your proposals to AERA Technology, Instruction, Cognition and Learning SIG. Please note that AERA’s 2017 deadline for paper submissions is: July 22, 2014 at 11:59 PM (PDT)

Login at AERA (www.aera.net) to submit a paper, poster, round table, or session submission and choose SIG "Technology, Instruction, Cognition and Learning”.

Please review the Call for Submissions as it contains important information about this year’s Annual Meeting theme and submission requirements. Please login to advance a paper or session submission. After you login, click ‘My AERA’ at the top of the page. On the ‘My AERA’ page, scroll down to the 2017 Annual Meeting and click ‘Online Program Portal’.

Theme:
Building on the conference theme “Knowledge to Action: Achieving the Promise of Equal Educational Opportunity” TICL invites proposals that apply research to or investigate interventions in education or training with a special focus on technology, instruction, cognition and learning.

Topics:

Based on recent TICL programs, potential topics include (but are not limited to): Learning Analytics, Mapping of Knowledge, Adaptive Learning Systems, Hybrid Human-Computer Systems, Immersive and Game-based Learning Environments, Expertise and Expert Performance, Computational Thinking, Knowledge and Data Visualization, Automated Assessment, Simulation-based Training, and Model-based Reasoning.

Formats:
Intact symposia may be submitted, although the greatest flexibility is offered by individual paper submissions, especially when authors indicate openness to alternative presentation formats. The roundtable format provides a great venue for in-depth conversations. This format, as well as the poster session format, allow for greater interaction than a paper session.

Proposals:
Paper submission should be a Word or PDF document, double-spaced, and less than 2,000 words in length. The following elements must be addressed, even if your results or conclusions are not complete at the time of the submission:

 - Objectives or purposes
 - Perspective(s) or theoretical framework
 - Methods, techniques, or modes of inquiry
 - Data sources, evidence, objects, or materials
 - Results and/or substantiated conclusions for arguments/point of view
 - Scientific or scholarly significance of the study or work

Process:
You can upload your submission online at www.aera.net. Notifications of acceptance or rejection will be emailed early November 2016.

Participation:
If you are interested to serve as chair or discussant for TICL, please send an email to our Program Chair Kristina Mattis (mailto:[email protected]) .
