Effective September 2, Jacqueline Jones will be president of the Foundation for Child Development (FCD). Jones served as a senior advisor on early learning to U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan and as the first deputy assistant secretary for policy and early learning at the U.S. Department of Education during the first term of the Obama administration.
Jones, an AERA member, has also served as assistant commissioner for the Division of Early Childhood Education at the New Jersey Department of Education and worked for more than 15 years as a senior research scientist at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J. She received a Ph.D. in communication sciences and disorders from Northwestern University.
As she prepares to join FCD, Jones said she is “eager to commit the full range of my experiences in FCD’s second century of work on behalf of young children. These are exciting times for early childhood education, and I am honored and humbled by this great opportunity.”
