Two AERA journals ranked in the top ten in the 2013 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), released by Thomson Reuters on July 29. AERA’s journals are included in the Education and Educational Research category. This category consists of 219 peer-reviewed scholarly journals from around the world.
JCR ranked journals by their 2013 impact factor, which is the total number of 2013 citations of each journal’s 2011 and 2012 articles, divided by the journal’s total number of articles published during those two years.
For the second consecutive year, Review of Educational Research (RER) placed first with an impact factor of 5 and 4,139 cites. RER has held a top-three position for five consecutive years. The top cited articles were both published in 2011 (Volume 81, Issue 2): “Social-Psychological Interventions in Education: They’re Not Magic,” by Stanford University authors David. S. Yeager and Gregory M. Walton, and “Boundary Crossing and Boundary Objects,” by Utrecht University authors Sanne F. Akkerman and Arthur Baker.
Educational Researcher (ER) was ranked 7th, with an impact factor of 2.963. The American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) was ranked 15th, and Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis (EEPA) placed 21st on the list of 219 journals.
The Journal of Educational and Behavioral Statistics (JEBS), cosponsored by the American Statistical Association, jumped six spots from its 2012 position, placing it in the top third of journals on the Education and Educational Research list (63rd out of 219). It was also ranked 22nd of 45 in the Social Sciences, Mathematical Methods category.
