IES funding in recent years has been appropriated through continuing resolutions, which have, for the most part, maintained level funding for programs. This is the first formal bill for funding the Department of Education to be passed in the FY 2013 appropriations process.
Whether and when a 2013 appropriations bill passes this congressional term remains uncertain. This bill is not expected to be brought to the Senate floor at this point. The House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Labor, Health, and Education has not yet begun to draft its bill.
