Join Our SIG
The Catholic Education SIG was established in 2009 in response to the Carnegie Conversation on Catholic Education, a gathering of scholars, practitioners, and philanthropists involved in Catholic Education, which was held at the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching the Fall of 2007, under the direction of Lee Shulman. At that meeting, the need for greater and more systematic research on Catholic and faith-based schools was recognized and a charge to build the field of Catholic educational research was issued. With an AERA SIG dedicated to Catholic Education—the largest private, faith-based education system in the world—we hope to encourage scholarship and grow the field of research and in turn inspire and encourage young and seasoned scholars alike to conduct research on Catholic K-12 education. Join the Catholic Education SIG to stay current with the latest research on Catholic education, connect with other scholars and scholar-practitioners in the field, and contribute your own research to this growing field. Help support our Catholic schools through educational research! In order to join any AERA SIG, please log on to the membership section of AERA by clicking on “Member Login” in the upper left corner of this page. On the Members Welcome page, under “Purchases”, click on “Special Interest Groups”. Follow the directions to register for SIG membership.
