To our SIG members and friends:
We are looking forward to a great program for the Grassroots Community and Youth Organizing SIG at the 2013 AERA Annual Meeting in San Francisco, April 27-May 1. The theme of the annual meeting is: Education and Poverty: What (Do) We Stand For?
We are excited about our off-site session at Mission High School on Sunday afternoon, April 28th. The session brings together scholars, policymakers, activists, and young people to discuss “Organizing and Activism for Effective School Discipline Policies, Youth Leadership, and More Justice.” Scroll down below for more information. Click here for the off-site event flyer. GCYO Offsite Event AERA 2013 We also encourage you to join us for our SIG business meeting on Monday evening the 29th. The meeting will feature a panel discussion on the similarities and differences across youth organizing and youth participatory action research. In addition, we have an exciting set of roundtables and symposia on community and youth organizing for educational reform. An overview of our SIG sessions at this year's Annual Meeting can be found at this link. GCYO AERA 2013 Program We look forward to seeing you in San Francisco.
