Starting in 2014, the SEM SIG began recognizing leaders within the SIG who have provided exceptional service over the years and also have made significant contributions to the discipline of structural equation modeling. We are delighted to present the 2015 award to Professor Greg Hancock from the University of Maryland. Dr. Hancock served as President of the SEM SIG from 1997 to 2000, and serves as Associate Editor of Structural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal. Born and raised in Seattle, Washington, he attended the University of Washington for his Ph.D. in educational psychology, as well as for teaching certificates in mathematics and chemistry. He spent four years on the faculty of Auburn University and is now in his 20th year at the University of Maryland, where he is a professor and director of the Measurement, Statistics, and Evaluation program. Dr. Hancock also directs the Center for Integrated Latent Variable Research (CILVR). He is a member of the Society of Multivariate Experimental Psychology and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Division 5), having received the division’s Jacob Cohen award in 2011 for his contributions to teaching and mentoring.
