Welcome to the AERA site for the Law & Education SIG!
The purpose of the SIG is to focus on legal issues affecting K-12 public and private schools, as well as legal issues in postsecondary education. Our members are legally and non-legally trained faculty members, graduate students and practitioners who study school law and higher education law broadly. The SIG is interested in promoting scholarship related to federal, state, and international legislation, court cases, and administrative policies and practices in the educational context.
SIG members study laws and administrative policies that impact all aspects of education from pre-K through graduate school and adult education. Our members are from a variety of countries and include faculty, graduate students, and practitioners. Our scholarship represents a variety of disciplinary perspectives and methodologies. While some of our members have law degrees, others do not. What we all share is a passion for the study of law and education and making our work accessible to a wide variety of audiences.
