The purpose of the Online Teaching and Learning SIG is to provide a forum for discussion and reporting on issues and research related to teaching and learning in an online environment.
Welcome to the AERA Online Teaching and Learning SIG!
The Online Teaching and Learning Special Interest group (OTL-SIG) is a multi-disciplinary community of scholars focused on the creation, use and evaluation of online learning environments. Our opportunities are boundless – from pre-school learning games and sophisticated university resources, to corporate and military training. In these, and many other ways, our members strive to help educators and students develop the most effective online teaching and learning tools.
To this end, we are rapidly beginning the development of an array of social media tools to help us, as a community, communicate our ideas, achievements and other information we would like to share. To better help us spread the word, and knowing that the number of opportunities to present at the AERA conference depends upon the size of our group, we are actively recruiting new members, and contacting others whose membership has lapsed. Please, spread the word!
Thank you for the opportunity to lead our SIG for the next three years but keep in mind that we’re a tight-knit community - never hesitate to share your ideas, accomplishments or opportunities via our social media. If you have questions, please e-mail me.
I look forward to our next opportunity to meet in person!
Sincerely,
Steven R. Terrell, Ph.D.
