Each year, the AERA Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of education researchers and a showcase for groundbreaking, innovative studies in a diverse array of areas. It is where to encounter ideas and data that will shape education practices and policies, and where to connect with leading thinkers from the U.S. and around the world. Leading up to the 2016 Annual Meeting, AERA16 Insider will provide a monthly glance at meeting highlights and features. President Oakes Announces Major Lecture Speakers
Darling-Hammond and Simmons to Address Annual Meeting

AERA President Jeannie Oakes has announced the AERA Distinguished Lecture and Wallace Foundation Distinguished Lecture speakers.

The AERA Distinguished Lecture will be given by Linda Darling-Hammond—Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education Emerita at Stanford University.

The Wallace Foundation Distinguished Lecture will be given by Warren Simmons—Fellow and Former Executive Director of the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University.

More featured speakers will be announced in next month's AERA16 Insider and will be immediately posted on the AERA website.

Professional Development Courses Now Open for Registration

Annual Meeting attendees can take advantage of a rich program of extended and mini professional development courses. This year’s 31-course lineup provides ample opportunities for attendees to train in research methods and skills, discover specialized research disciplines, address professional development issues, and much more. Several courses emphasize international scholarship, including three organized by the World Education Research Association. Check out courses and learn how to register.

The Off-Site Experience
Registration Open for Off-Site Events

Space is available for only two of the five off-site visits. The remaining events include "Response Abilities: Generating Arts-based Research with Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Martin Luther King" and "Fighting for the Right to the City: Community Organizing for Public Education in a Gentrifying D.C." Register or add one or both of these events to your existing registration.
